The Admiral is getting impatient with the Alien he asks the Missionary what he thinks the missionary has about as much a clue as the Admiral had. Getting out his holographic communicator and shows an image of The Shadow of Eden and points at it.

The Captain gives up in her attempts to communicate and orders one of her crewmembers to bring forth the device. He does so and activates it and the device starts to give out both a series of flashes of light reminiscent of that of the Nakturrians as well as an unintelligeble sound.

The device lets out sounds that Admiral has never heard before could this be the Alien language or maybe the lights are he feels he is a bit in over his head with this first contact scenario he decides to start quoting scripture and sends a recording to the scientists back home.

[Caspoi]

As he begins to speak the device stops and stays still for a while. When he is done it countinues to give out lights, if silently. The Nakturians themselves observe everything it does intently.

The admiral looks at the object maybe its recording them to test this theory he using his holo communicator to show an image of his ravaged homeworld to the device.

[Caspoi]

This shifts the attention of the Nakturians as they watch the recording. The device does countinue on after the recording however and the Nakturians seem to look rather expectantly on the aliens.

The admiral decides to start singing the national anthem and gets the rest of his retinue to go along with it the missionary just stares at the aliens.

When they are done the Nakturians hand over what appears to be a recording of their writtten language to the aliens, while the device countinues to go on.

[It is pictographic, with the symbols meant to refer to different objects and sometimes one could guess what they are referring to due to their shape]

The admiral receives a recording of what look like pictographs he can see a star a galaxy and other things in return he pulls up examples of Dar'kas writing on his Holo-Comms

[Dar'kas writing is like cuneiform]

The Nakturians observe it intently and try to make the best of it to no avail. Meanwhile the device once again emits sounds, this time it seems to be repeating some of what had been said earlier by the aliens in the form of short fragments.

The device is copying him. The Admiral realizes maybe the aliens communicate in short fragments of info or really he doesn't know.

[I wonder is this the longest first contact here on these forums]

[There is another ongoing one that is four pages long, you need not worry]

The Nakturians look at him expectantly, hoping for him to say more.

[Dragonsploof]

the Admiral then starts quoting word by word the events of the Great Holy War his soldiers look at him like he is mad he tells of the razing of towns the mass killings of heretics and the sieges etc. until he eventually finishes.

[Caspoi]

The Device also starts to recite these things, while giving of new flashes of light, the Nakturians don't seem to quite understand what is said but still seem to try and take in everythin.

[I suggest that we skip to the part where they can understand one another.]

[ok i'll let you start the official greetings]

[Caspoi]

Suddenly the device starts to speak new words, not uttered by the admiral before:
"Greetings, we are representatives of the Nakturan stratocracy, border guards for it's realm. What brings you to our realm of space?"

[Dragonsploof]

The Admiral is shocked but quickly calms himself
"We came here after following our probe that came to this system"

[Caspoi]

More lights, a new response.

"Ah, we never found the creators of that probe, so it was you who sent it. In our attempts at translation you told us much about your history, anything that you may want to add?"

[Dragonsploof]

He suddenly regretted saying all those things but now they know that much he tells them of the pre-cataclysm people about how they in fact created the probe and sent it out and who's tech is the basis of the Dar'kas current tech and about how they were decadent and unfaithful in their ways

[Caspoi]

The Nakturians were privately very concerned by what was and had been said by these aliens, about mass warfare and slaughter on a scale never encountered on Naktura. The device speaks again, and what it said was:

"A fascinating tale regarding your origin, and know that you have found us, what do you wish to do?"

[Dragonsploof]

We request our probe from this system and we would report our discovery to our leaders

[Caspoi]

"I am afraid that your probe has at this point been fully dissected and not of much use. We could probably gather most of it's parts though. Is there anything else that you wish form the stratocracy?"
